The New Canaan Library offers the residents of New Canaan free and unlimited access to full-text articles published in these national newspapers through a link on our website. Any time, day or night, patrons can log into iCONN Newstand with a valid New Canaan Library card to search for articles on any topic in any of these newspapers.

The iconn Newstand offers the New York Times (1999 to the present), Wall Street Journal (1982 to the present) The Washington Post (1982 to the present), The Los Angeles Times (1985 to the present), The Hartford Courant (1992 to the present) and the Christian Science Monitor (1988 to the present). The New Canaan Library also has access to the full archive of the New York Times from 1857 to 1999 on a separate database called the New York Times Historical Archive.

Newspapers can be searched individually or they can be grouped. Searching can be done by keyword, phrase, or name, and they can be limited to a certain date, between dates, or for certain years. When articles are found, the full text can be viewed right on the screen. The article may then be printed, or emailed.

To begin your search go to www.newcanaanlibrary.org. Click on Research on the top of the page and scroll down to view an alphabetical list of all the Library's databases. Click on iCONN Newstand or The New York Times Historical Archives. Enter the 14-digit barcode number printed on your Library card (omit the spaces) to access these databases.
