DESCRIPTION:Please join Janey &amp; Friends in an hourlong string quartet 
 concert, as we journey through the diverse landscape of American Musical H
 istory from a Native American lullaby, to spirituals, Dvorak’s “Americ
 an Quartet”, Joplin rags, Ellington, Gershwin, the American Songbook, Br
 oadway, Motown, and modern pop chart toppers. This interactive sampling wi
 ll be more than a melting pot of sound, it will illuminate the richly dist
 inctive, yet intertwined pathways that our musical culture travels. Great 
 for Kids (Grades K-12), parents and grandparents to attend together! The 
 quartet includes Janey Choi, Buffi Jacobs, Hayden Oliver and Paul Woodiel.
  Canadian violinist/teaching artist/concert host, Janey Choi has perform
 ed, taught, and collaborated with artists across the globe, engaging audie
 nces of all ages and genres. She is the recipient of numerous awards inclu
 ding National First Prize in the Canadian Music Competition, an Artists In
 ternational debut recital at Carnegie Hall, and has participated in such f
 estivals as Mostly Mozart, Norfolk, Taos, Bar Harbor Music Festival, the S
 poleto Festivals in the U.S. and Italy, Festival Musical de Santo Domingo,
  the Santa Fe Opera and the Sarasota OperaBuffi Jacobs, an accomplished mo
 dernistic cellist and composer, currently resides in the vibrant city of N
 ew York. She is known for delivering captivating and innovative performanc
 es and compositions. With a career spanning over three decades, Buffi has 
 continuously evolved as a musician, fearlessly venturing beyond her comfor
 t zones to gain fresh perspectives and create truly unique experiences.Hay
 den Oliver is a New York City–based violinist and violist whose work spa
 ns musical theatre, classical performance, and contemporary pop collaborat
 ions. After studying at the University of North Carolina School of the Art
 s, he spent 17 years performing throughout the Dallas–Fort Worth area be
 fore making New York his home. Hayden toured for five years with the natio
 nal company of Hamilton and has shared the stage with artists including St
 evie Wonder, Harry Connick Jr., Lady Gaga, and Tony Bennett. His playing m
 oves easily between classical repertoire, Broadway pits, and pop performan
 ces.Leonard Bernstein described Paul Woodiel as &quot;a first-class perfor
 mer who combines spirituality with intellect.&quot;A busy New York-based p
 urveyor of violin and fiddle music, his broad stylistic compass includes t
 he dance fiddle traditions of America and the British Isles, ragtime and j
 azz, and the music of Charles Ives. Mr. Woodiel has presented recitals at
  the 92nd St. Y, Wesleyan University, Caramoor, Miller Theater, Yale Unive
 rsity, and the New York Festival of Song at Carnegie Hall, and has appeare
 d as soloist at festivals from Bard College to Moab, Utah
