Program Description

Event Details

Attend a 2-day Impressionist Painting Workshop outdoors at the Library, as part of the suite of programs offered to accompany our current exhibition in the Lightburn Gallery, Impressionism Then and Now: Dmitri Wright and the American Lineage. This workshop requires commitment to the full class time on both days, without exception.

Wright has been a highly respected teacher for decades, and his en plein air workshops are wildly popular. The workshop is designed for beginning artists interested in learning more about the science and poetry of Impressionist landscape painting. Workshop will include introductory lecture, field demonstration, and critique of the participant's artwork. Open to all skill levels, ages 18 and up. Materials will be provided. Registration is limited to 20 people, with priority given to New Canaan residents.
