Program Description

Event Details

From the 16th century to today, Spaniards have made extraordinary contributions to the history of Western art. In this lecture, ArtScapades will look at three Spanish artists: the twin giants of 16th and 17th Spanish painting, El Greco and Diego Velázquez, and the most important Spanish artist of the late 18th and early 19th centuries, Francisco de Goya.

Robin Hoffman and Jodi Stiffelman, of ArtScapades, began teaching art appreciation in 1998. They have presented at libraries, art centers, and museums in Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, and Florida, and have been lecturing at New Canaan Library since 2010.

This program is in conjunction with our One Book New Canaan program featuring David Grann's The Wager. More information can be found here.
