Based on James Baldwin's 1974 novel, If Beale Street Could Talk is a 2018 American romantic film drama written and directed by Academy Award winner Barry Jenkins. Rated R. 

The film tells the story of Tish (Kiki Layne) who, with help from her family (Regina King, Colman Domingo), seeks to claim her wrongly charged lover (Stephan James) innocent before the birth of their child. Widely praised and nominated, the film was named one of the Top 10 Films of 2018 by the National Board of Review and the American Film Institute.
