Event Details

New Canaan Library is pleased to welcome Dina Powell McCormick as she discusses her new book, Who Believed in You? with Library CEO, Ellen Sullivan Crovatto. The book, co-authored with husband David McCormick, explores the profound impact of transformative mentorship. Dina shares her own experience of how mentors helped shape her life and career, all the way back from immigrating to America from Egypt. All successful leaders stand on the shoulders of those who believed in them–people who saw potential they may not have recognized in themselves and helped them find and achieve their purpose.

In this powerful conversation, Dina will share insights from some of the most successful leaders in the country who credit mentorship as a defining force in their success. Through real-world stories, she unpacks the four key elements of transformative mentorship–trust, shared values, meaningful commitment, and instilling confidence.

As a grateful beneficiary of the American dream, Dina hopes this book will inspire individuals of all ages and backgrounds to invest in someone, pass that support forward, and ultimately help change the world. Whether you’re a mentor, a mentee, or simply someone who values the power of encouragement and guidance, this event will offer personal reflections, meaningful conversation, and actionable takeaways on the role mentorship plays in shaping lives.
