Program Description

Event Details

The Narrative Resonance series pairs works of classical chamber music and literature to explore artistic parallels and their relevance for contemporary audiences. Join us to learn how the emotional force of Robert Schumann’s Third String Quartet mirrors that of Virginia Woolf’s To the Lighthouse.

Accessible to those new to classical music and Woolf, the program will consist of a short lecture presenting specific textual and musical examples and culminate in a full performance of Schumann’s String Quartet No. 3 by the Neela String Quartet, comprised of musicians from the Juilliard School.

Narrative Resonance is a concert series of lecture-performances in partnership with libraries, bookstores, art galleries, and high schools in the greater NYC area. Members of the Neela String Quartet include Vibha Janakiraman (violin), Blues Zhang (violin), Janice Leung (viola), and Nathan Francisco (cello). For more information on Narrative Resonance visit @narrativeresonanceconcerts on Instagram and Facebook.
