Program Description

Event Details

The first in a series of programs focusing on current civic issues in New Canaan, this presentation by Town officials will explore the paths New Canaan has taken to meet its Affordable housing needs and State requirements by focusing on three specific projects.

The first is using inclusionary zoning regulations, which require 15% Affordable units in new multi-family projects, such as The Quartier on Burtis Avenue. The second is building 100% Affordable units via the Housing Authority, such as Canaan Parish. Lastly, we will discuss the future of Affordable housing in New Canaan and the current work of the Town's Affordable Housing Committee.

Our speakers will be Sarah Carey, New Canaan Town Planner and Senior Enforcement Officer; Scott Hobbs, Chairman of the New Canaan Housing Authority; and Krista Neilson, Member of the New Canaan Planning & Zoning Commission / Affordable Housing Committee.
