Join us for an immersive cultural experience that celebrates tradition, mentorship, and the next generation of artists.
Step into the vibrant world of the Tang Dynasty (618–907), a golden age of cultural brilliance and artistic exchange. Tang Elegance and Delight is an engaging interdisciplinary performance that brings to life the beauty and creativity of everyday Tang life through the dynamic fusion of Chinese classical dance and calligraphy.
Inspired by leisure activities such as poetry, tea culture, flower appreciation, Nanyin music, calligraphy, and Cuju (ancient Chinese football), this program captures the elegance, vitality, and openness that defined the Tang spirit. Through the interplay of movement and ink, body and brush, audiences are invited to experience how art was seamlessly woven into daily life.
This special presentation is the culmination of the Connecticut Museum of Culture and History’s Southern New England Apprenticeship Program, featuring award-winning mentor Kaili Chen and her apprentices: Leilani Gao and Fiona Huang (Classical Chinese Dance); and mentor Jun Lin with his apprentice Christine Yuan (Chinese Calligraphy).
