Program Description

Event Details

This presentation is geared toward students preparing to graduate and is designed to help them navigate life on a college campus. We’ll cover the prevalence of sexual violence in college settings, how to find support resources when researching schools, and how to report incidents if they occur.

We'll also talk about what consent really means, how students of all genders can help prevent harm and support one another, and how to protect both themselves and their partners. The presentation includes key definitions and laws related to consensual relationships, sexual assault, and consent, as well as practical strategies for stepping in as a bystander. We’ll also explain important laws like Title IX and the Clery Act that help protect students’ rights and safety.

Parents are encouraged to attend and be part of the conversation about how to support their students as they enter this new environment.

*This workshop is presented by the Rowan Center which is a non profit, sexual assault resource agency based in Stamford. They provide free, confidential support, counseling and advocacy to survivors of sexual violence. The Rowan Center also provides age and developmentally appropriate awareness and prevention education for K-12 students, colleges, law enforcement, community organizations, and more. The Rowan Center is dedicated to empowering survivors and fostering safer communities through outreach and education.
