Event Details
Few expect themselves or a loved one to need inpatient mental health care, and yet 1 in 4 of us will suffer from a significant psychiatric illness over our lifetime, and more than 2 million hospitalizations occur each year in the United States* for an increasingly wide range of issues ranging from addiction, depression, psychotic illnesses, and more. Mark J. Russ, MD, a 40-year veteran in the field whose professional experience has been deepened by his own journey with mental health care as a young man, will share what to expect and why, what matters most, and how you as a family member or friend are a critical part of the ‘treatment team.’
Joined in conversation with a panel of experts, Dr. Russ will offer invaluable practical information and a comprehensive look at procedures and treatments—with unparalleled compassion and understanding. Dr. Russ is chief medical officer at Silver Hill Hospital and author of the recently published The Family Guide to Psychiatric Hospitalization. Doors open at 5:30 pm with refreshments and complimentary books; program starts at 6:00pm.
