New Canaan Library is pleased to welcome New Canaan poet Jamie O’Halloran for the official launch and reading of her recently published debut collection Ballast. O’Halloran earned a master’s degree in creative writing from the University of Washington and is the author of five chapbooks, including The Visible Woman from Pinhole Poetry and Corona Connemara and Half a Crown, which was a second-place winner in the 2021 Fool for Poetry International Chapbook CompetitionO’Halloran has lived along the Atlantic, Gulf, and Pacific Coasts of the U.S. She is a dual Irish and American citizen who currently divides her time between Galway and New Canaan.

Poet Moyra Donaldson wrote of the collection, “I have long admired the poetry of Jamie O’Halloran, her ability to both engage and startle. Her precision and reach. Ballast is a compelling and important first collection and one not to be missed.” 

O’Halloran will answer questions after the reading. She will be introduced by Gwen North Reiss. Refreshments will be served.
