Participate in our Student Civics Essay Contest for Grades 7 – 12, sponsored by the New Canaan League of Women Voters and New Canaan Library!

Essay Prompt:
“What responsibilities do citizens have beyond voting to sustain a healthy democracy?"
Entries must be submitted by Monday, March 16th to [email protected].
Please read the rules below carefully before you write your essay!
Rules for participation
The essay must be original and clearly address the prompt in 300 – 500 words. Using 12-point font, 1″ margins, and double spacing is recommended. More or less words may result in deduction of points.
Use of artificial intelligence in writing your essay is prohibited. In your application, you will be asked to agree with the following statement: “By submitting this essay, I confirm that the work presented is solely my own, and I have not utilized any artificial intelligence assistance. I take pride in the authenticity of my efforts, underscoring my commitment to individual creativity and dedication.”
Student must reside or attend school in New Canaan, CT.
