Customer Service Library Assistant (Part-Time)

New Canaan Library seeks a friendly, energetic, customer-service oriented person to join our Customer Service Department as a part-time Library Assistant. If you love talking to people about their reading interests and engaging with members of the community, we would love to hear from you! 

The Library Assistant works at our busy Welcome Desk and helps Library patrons of all ages to access materials and use Library services. A shift on the Welcome Desk may involve issuing Library cards, locating items within the Library, making book recommendations, helping resolve Library account issues, guiding patrons to programs and meeting rooms, and assisting with checkout. The Library Assistant also carries out crucial behind-the-scenes tasks supporting the Library’s circulation functions, including shelving, preparing item holds, answering phones and emails, and performing other relevant duties as assigned by the Manager of Customer Service. 

This non-exempt, part-time position of up to 20-24 hours/week requires weekly evening and regular weekend shifts in rotation.
