Celebrate Native Plant Month This April
Celebrate Native Plant Month This April
The New Canaan Garden Club, New Canaan Land Trust, and New Canaan Nature Center are partnering this April to promote the beauty and benefits of planting native species.
As part of this initiative, the New Canaan Garden Club has organized a special native plant promotion in collaboration with Copia Home & Garden. A curated selection of 10–12 native plants, chosen by the Garden Club and the Land Trust, will be featured and available for purchase throughout the month.
A portion of proceeds will support local conservation efforts: 15% of sales, up to $1,000, will benefit the Land Trust’s Barbara Johansen Pollinator Garden at its headquarters. Funds raised beyond that amount will support the Garden Club’s native plant projects at Irwin Park.

In 1996, with the purchase of Vermejo–558,000 acres in northern New Mexico that had been scarred by mining–media mogul Ted Turner launched an ambitious project. In this feature-length documentary, scientists, ranchers, and conservationists reveal how the seemingly impossible has been achieved here, from North America's largest native trout restoration to the return of beaver, elk, and bison. In an era of wildfires, drought, and species collapse, Vermejo is living proof that restoration is not only possible; it’s a blueprint for what comes next.
