Program Description

Event Details

Join Miss Rebecca for our K-1st Book Club, featuring hands-on games and crafts! Each month, we will read a book together at the Library, then get creative with book-inspired projects. This month, we will read My Best Friend Is As Sharp As a Pencil and Other Funny Classroom Portraits by Hanoch Piven together at the Library, then create portraits of our friends and family members.

This program is part of a monthlong Humans of New Canaan series that explores who we are and the profound impact of relationships that shape our lives—from the family who root us and the friends who nourish us to the mentors who guide us and figures who inspire us. Participants will have the option of leaving their artwork at the Library to be part of a Humans of New Canaan display.

Accessibility and Accommodations

We strive to facilitate access to information and Library services for all patrons. If you have questions about accessibility or a request for accommodation, please phone 203-594-5002, email the librarian in charge of this program (see contact info above), or email [email protected] with as much lead time as possible.

Youth Participation Guidelines

If your child is under 12 years old, an adult caregiver must remain in the Children’s Room for the duration of the program. If your child finishes a program early, or if a child becomes ill, distressed, or behaves in a manner that interferes with other participants’ enjoyment of the program, they may be released into the Children’s Room before the program’s end time. Please ensure that your child knows exactly where to find you at all times.

Thank You for Your Support!
